News Reporter Quits After Winning the Lottery

This is a dream come true for many!
When asked what they’d do if they win the lottery, many people quickly answer that they’d quit their job. That’s exactly what this Spanish news reporter did on a live television broadcast!
News reporter Natalia Escudero, who works for Spain’s public broadcasting company RTVE, revealed, on-air, that she was holding one of the winning tickets for a €4 Million prize. Natalia celebrated her win by stating that she isn’t going to be at work the following day.

The incident was particularly dramatic because Natalia found out on-air, as she was reporting the winning numbers for Spain’s Christmas lottery.

But the story gets even more interesting!

Natalia didn’t end up winning “El Gordo”, also known as in Spain as the Fat One. This is the grand jackpot in Spain’s lottery. Instead, Natalia only won a fraction of the grand prize for a total of €5,000 – not an early retirement prize, you’d ask me!

Natalia quickly tried to cut her losses by apologizing to her viewers who “felt cheated”.

Was this a case of celebrating too early? We don’t think so. After all, Natalia couldn’t have possibly known that she was only one of many winning ticket holders. Furthermore, anyone who’s played the lottery knows the excitement of watching those winning numbers come out one by one. The excitement is truly hard to contain.

What do you think? Should people quit their job immediately after discovering the winning numbers or should they wait?
